Flannel quilt/throw

So they aren't like the ones my grandma made, but they are warm and comfy. I'm calling them quilted because I'm using cotton batting and quilting them with an "x"...

Lamp and shade reworked

Old brass lamp given to me by a new friend. The shade was in bad shape, but I decided to experiment with it. This took a lot of modge podge because most of this material is heavy fabric I used for window treatments!
I still need to finish the inside with trim to cover ragged edges.
The question is with or without buttons?

Never give up...even on the little things!

My orchid hadn't bloomed in 2 years and I had given up hope for this year, but I kept watering.

Finished garden chair

Finally got it on my porch, now to slowly add to the grouping. Probably a side table next.

Refreshing old flower pots

Cleaned up some old flower pots that either had cracks or were colors I just didn't care for. Cut fabric into squares and used glossy modge podge to give them a fresh look.  Used the patriotic theme, but next ones will be turquoise, yellow pink.

New experiences

I've pulled trailers before, but never hooked one to the truck myself. This weekend I decided to get a trailer load of mulch. Hooking up the trailer didn't go as smoothly as I thought it would, but thanks to my dad for walking me through the bugs I encountered and giving me the confidence!

Updated "treasure" items from Grandma Howe

My grandson, Raiden, helped me knock the first coat of grime off of my new treasures.  Some items are going to require more scrubbing.  Many of these items haven't been touched in more than 25 years....just sitting in a barn!

"Treasure" Hunting at Grandma Howe

My sister and I spent part of the day digging through the Howe farm barns. My finds are...milk cans, milking stools (my grandparents were dairy farmers!), glass jug and jar, crock with handle, wood barrel, wire basket, lard bucket, gas can, wood box, some old tools (which I really plan to use!), coffee tins, chicken feeders and some old twine.   Chrystal found a few tins and an old bird cage, which belonged to our great grandmother Creasser.  But, I agree with my sister, that the greatest treasures we found were in an old trunk out in the chicken house.  It contained a knitted baby outfit sent from relatives in CA when my mother was born, an old breast pump still in the original box, leather baby shoes, and the greatest of all were possibly a hundred letters from my grandfather to my grandmother starting in 1944 (WWII) while he was in the Army and in Germany.  We read one...it was so endearing and then took them into the house for Grandma to read later!  That day, when my grandma said, "honey, we never threw away anything", she wasn't kidding!

Old garden chair

Great find at flea market yesterday. Thank you to my awesome friend Susan Matthews for so graciously allowing me to buy it! I plan on making myself a relaxing reading nook in a corner of my front porch.

Tea stained tablecloth

Bought a vintage tablecloth today. When I got it home, the yellow stains were a little more obvious than I first thought, so I tea stained it. I took a pic with another white vintage one to see the difference a little tea and about 5 minutes makes!

Old window

My dad believes this window came out of the old home place on my family farm north of buffalo, probably built around 1910. I sanded it, kept the green paint n threw cherry stain on it....finished project!

Motivational...fabric over used canvas

Fabric stretched over old canvas. This is a spin off version of the early craft of putting a motivational thought on top of an old oil painting.

Old windows

Old window from my grandparents house, which I dug out of my dads barn...he lives in my grandparents house. I have three, presume this one is from the 50s. Another one is much older...more on it later!
I coat of black, two coats of white...waiting for it to dry!
Painting complete, now what?

Fabric covered switch plates....

Left over fabrics n mod podge, so it didn't cost a dime. They will soon be all over my house!

Ahhh...the life!

My baby, hunter.

Upcycle sweaters

Headbands, cowl scarves, skirts, boot socks or leg warmers (depending on your age!). The possibilities seem endless. Laptop cozy?

Planning ahead for next Christmas? Try a Christmas stocking for your Harley fanatic!

I used my son's old jeans and some scrap fabric.  Bought the Harley Davidson patch at the local dealership, for about $8, so this was fun, inexpensive gift!   My Harley guy really liked it!

Latest project...

This was totally experimental.  I bought these two faux oil prints and frames for $5 and decided even if it didn't turn out as expected, the frames were worth $5.

What I learned is that the alpha stickers need to be bolder/thicker to allow more of the original scene colors to be visible.   I plan to try again soon!

Never blogged before...thought I'd give it a shot!
